- Parts Company starts production of body parts
- Acquisition of a large supply of completed body parts
- Wide range of other spare parts purchased from Saab Automobile's bankruptcy
Saab Automobile Parts AB will start production of car body parts at Saab Automobile's press and body plant in Trollhättan. About 30 people, both production employees and managers, will work with the planning and production of various replacement body parts for Saab cars including bonnets, doors and fenders.
"We have worked hard on this complex transaction together with Saab Automobile's trustee in bankruptcy for some time. We have signed an agreement with the liquidator that allows us to hire Saab's press and body shop and the tools we need. This means that we can now produce spare parts in-house that have not been produced since Saab stopped manufacturing", says Lennart Stahl, CEO of Saab Automobile Parts AB. The planning of production is in full swing and after the test run of the press lines, the press equipment will be staffed to start to produce the components. These components are then assembled to create the final replacement parts. The production of car body parts will last until 30 June 2012.
Saab Automobile Parts AB has also signed an agreement with the liquidators to acquire a large number of body parts that are already manufactured, assembled and ready. This agreement also includes a large acquisition of other car components, covering about 1,500 different part numbers, which are of great importance from an aftersales perspective.
"These measures, together with recently signed new contracts with key suppliers, are part of a comprehensive program to ensure a good supply of spare parts for Saab cars, both short and long term", says Lennart Ståhl.
Saab Automobile Parts AB was not included in the bankruptcy of Saab Automobile AB. The company has continued to service Saab's global network of dealers and repairers with Saab parts, accessories and technical support.
